Speech Tournaments

Competing in tournaments gives students a purpose for speaking. Plus, it's a fun day for the whole family!

Each family sends a parent (or both!) to judge for the day.

Tournaments last a whole Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.

  • Apologetics

  • Impromptu

  • Informative

  • Interview

  • Podcasting

Speech Rounds

  • All students compete in Round 1 and Round 2.

  • Judges rank students 1st-8th place in a room.

  • The scores from both rounds are tallied.

  • Those with the best scores (lowest) move to finals.

Watching a finals round is a great way for students to see what judges are looking for in more advanced speeches and to cheer on their friends.

Closing of the Day

We end with an awards ceremony and the competitive speech tradition of singing The Doxology together.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
